Non-cloud free anti-virus programs?

I am looking for a free, non-cloud based AV free for my winXP and Win7 systems. Here is what I need:

1) FREE.
2) NOT cloud based.
3) Manual updates. (NOT automatic) The system uses a dial-up modem only. No high speed internet available.
4) No extra programs (BLOATWARE). Just a plain AV program.
5) No ads.

Is there a AV program that fits these criteria?

Avast! Free
With the correct settings for accessing your ISP, auto dial-out should not occur. The autoupdate will then await your connection to perform that task.

It seems my current AVG update is slowing down my system.

It is time for me to dump AVG after 10 years.

Any other info on Avast?

Can I do manual updates? (NO AUTO UPDATE)

No bloatware (Like AVG)

All I need is the free AV. Nothing else.

No ads?

Not cloud based?

Can this be done with Avast Free? Please remember I only have access to dial-up service.

I've been using Avast! Free for years; here's how I configure it:

• No file scan
• Mail scan
• Web scan
• no updates

Periodically - - say once a week, I invoke Manual Updates.

What about those annoying ads I keep hearing about with Avast free? Are they as bad as AVG was?

I will be downloading/installing it this week hopefully. I am right now waiting for AVG to finish a LARGE update... More bloatware I guess.
