Now Windows 10 updates are ruining Counter-Strike Twitch streams

Real men use 10 pro and set group policy to disable on windows update reboot
Take your "real men" stereo-type and shove-it. I know several real men that never use a computer at all. You speak as if real men didn't exist before computers (and to fine tune it a bit more make that Windows 10).

Did super gamer forget to do the single most important thing when configuring Windows 10? Or is he just a *****? It's really not that hard to configure this to not happen...

Never have I had that happen after configuring this.

I'm equally disgusted that someone would want to watch 9 hours of this, please get a life or kill yourself, do the world a favor.
It doesn't work this way.

If you don't schedule your updates windows will schedule it for you and it doesn't care if you have anything important running at this point, it will restart no matter what. It will wake your PC from sleep and do his damn updates for you and restart your machine, he doesn't give a ****.

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to mention you have to go in to GPEdit and disable a bunch of stuff, assuming your running W10 Pro that is.

"Real men" work Real jobs getting their hands dirty and have no time for BS computer problems like this, "Real men" work in coal mines or on oil rigs out at sea allowing the rest of us cheap access to electricity to power our meaningless PCs that play stupid games. A "Real man" would laugh in your IT face and then clobber you for being a dweeb, true story.

I was going to say the same thing. I have never had the windows 10 updates interrupt anything I was doing. It takes 30 seconds to make sure this won't happen.

2 ways to address this issue:

1) Place a firewall in between your computer and your modem and block everything that comes from/to Microsoft.
2) Join your PC to a local domain controller and configure WSUS. Once you are ready to have updates installed, you just have to open up the WSUS console and approve the updates you want to install.

Don't forget to mention that you should make sure you have addressed the amount of storage you need for WSUS.

After reading a few articles with Mandark's comments, I'm now certain that this kid's a Troll.
You mean more like a troll's lower backside. Probably works at Microsoft. Our state IT guys solved all their Windows problems. Format HDs and install Linux! Seriously! Its turning out to be cheaper in the long run and less hassle.

Just because something is written in an EULA doesn't mean it is legally binding. A court decides that. The Win7 EULA hasn't been tested. If a condition in the EULA is illegal or unreasonable, that condition would be invalidated and possibly more.
I think a good test case for that might be, M$ still requiring activation for an OS they no longer support, namely XP.

IIRC and understood correctly at the time of XP's release, M$ was trying to overcome push back about activation by claiming, "one day it might no longer be needed.". You'd think by now they'd let it go.

Yeah well, if M$ didn't have really heavyweight "co-conspirators" such as Adobe, I'd be totally on Ubuntu in a flash. <(pun intended).

I'm a man of fairly simple needs, but GIMP can't even hold a candle to Photoshop Elements. (At least as of the last time I was really disappointed by it).

Depending on what MS OSes and applications that, you are running in your environment, you won't need a very large storage capacity to save all the updates. A few hundred Gigabyte of storage space is more than enough. I have setup a small domain controller for a private business before with WSUS and so far, the WSUS database hasn't grown that much in size.

The updates that Microsoft releases in general are not that big.

Understood, although since we are talking about home users in the article, I don't know that there are many who would think to address those concerns. Let alone have a home server running WSUS.

I agree, having a domain controller in a home network is an overkill, its not only expensive but takes time to set it up properly. On the other hand, a firewall is not that expense to build or buy and anyone could have one.
