Nvidia and Zotac urge US to drop Trump-era China tariffs on graphics cards

The idea that all manufacturing is dependent upon China is the crux of the problem. It should have never been this way. Evidence of a corrupt system. Keep the tariffs. They need to learn.
Lol... they HAVE learned! That’s why they will surpass the US as the most powerful country in the world. Hopefully the US holds on long enough so that I don’t live to see it...

I'm perfectly fine with parity. Why anyone needs to dominate is beyond me. Kind of a hassle trying to maintain it, really.

Sure it will make a difference, for their own profits as they will keep price the same citing "transportation cost increase" & misc other lies.

End customer benefit out of this will be $0.

Beat me to that comment, sadly most people don't get it. As a prior small business man I quickly learned that nobody leaves "MONEY ON THE TABLE." Nothing will change.

My old random theory I would also say is that you can tax air or rain droplets and still be in the same situation. Money isn't the problem the problem is who where is that money really going to.

Who are we kidding here? Not me, I can assure you.

Given the current chip shortage, and the prices scalpers are managing to get reselling goods, all the two companies want to do, is be able to fold the tariff savings back into the dealer cost of their products.

In the case of Nvidia, that means passing the tariff "profits", off to after market vendors in the form of a price hike in chipsets, and a price hike in their reference card's.MSRP.

In Zotac's case, it means a price hike in MSRP.

And BTW, that means the value of the tariff, PLUS, about an expected 25% profit margin on those moneys.

Y'all have shown now desperate and addicted you are, and no manufacturer has the character to not take full advantage of it.

I agree with most of what you said, but think the tariffs should still remain to force these companies to manufacture back in the USA.

It's the corrupt politicians on both the left and right that continue to sell this country away because of their greed. We need people to wake up and realize we are being played by both sides while they and crooked CEOs lobby to continue to profit off our backs.
IMO, I do not think that the companies really care about the tariffs because they will just pass the cost along to consumers. And keeping the tariffs in place does nothing to inspire companies manufacturing products in China to move their manufacturing operations back to the US because those companies pass those costs on to consumers anyway - so there is little to no impact on profits. If the US really wanted companies to move manufacturing back to the US, the US would pass tax laws that reward manufacturing in the US.
