APU, by definition, is AMD chip that combines CPU and integrated graphics on same package. In other words, APU is iGPU by definition.

Often AMD tries to tell that APU has "better" iGPU than just trash. Just like Intel with Iris tries to tell that iGPU is better than basic trash.

However APU still qualifies as iGPU.

It's still a useless debate. What gpus are PC gamers using?

then why are there are separate series for igpu and apu ?
igpu is not an entry level desktop gaming die on cpu die. that's an apu, and that's what ouperforming 1030 (but losing to 1630)
5700G costs about 25% less than 11400f+gt1630, while performing 25% slower, and requiring you to buy more of faster ram to really game on it. AMD really invented nothing new.

Because originally APU meant chip that has both GPU and CPU. Now when Ryzen chips have also GPU but very poor one, it seems AMD says "APU has better GPU than just basic one".

Just like with Intel Iris. Originally Iris meant GPU has eDRAM. Since eDRAM scales very poorly when manufacturing tech gets better, today Iris tries to tell "Iris GPU is much better than basic one".

However both Iris and APU still qualify as iGPU because both are integrated GPUs (iGPU). Claiming that integrated GPU is not integrated GPU because it's using different name is pretty much losing battle.

APU has big advantage: it does not require external graphics. In situations where total size must be very compact and no external graphics is possibility, APU (or Iris pro or something similar) is best choice. For those situations 5700G is best choice when it comes to GPU speed. AMD didn't develop 5700G for nothing.

rtx still runs on dxr/dx12ultimate (both hw agnostic), and it always has. rtx is not an nvidia's proprietary ray tracing api,it's just their marketing term for high-res ray/path tracing effects (and dlss). amd's console level "rt" (if you can call hybrid, quarter res solutions that) runs on dxr/dx12ult too.
Runs on top of DX12, yes. But still vendor specific implementations I expect to be superceded in the next major revision.
 
Nvidia wants to sell GPUs. As I see it, they would only say things that would help them sell GPUs - for example, what it says in the article title.
