OnlyFans suspends ban on porn following user uproar

In brief: Last week in an unexpected turn of events, OnlyFans announced it would ban posting any sexually-explicit conduct on its platform starting October 1, 2021. Fortunately for some, that won't be the case anymore, as the company has already come out publicly to suspend the ban.

OnlyFans has existed since 2016, but only in 2020, we saw it rise in popularity, largely due to its adult-content creators. So, it was quite surprising to see the company announcing a ban on sexually-explicit conduct. The community wasn't pleased with this news, showing its discontent on social media and cancelling subscriptions, while content creators were already thinking about quitting the platform.

Tim Stokely, OnlyFans founder and CEO, said that certain banks were the reason behind the ban. As it seems, these banks were not comfortable investing in a platform featuring pornographic content. If OnlyFans didn't comply with the banks' demands, the site could lose the ability to process credit card payments from users. One bank mentioned by Tim was JPMorgan Chase.

However, just one week after announcing the ban, OnlyFans stated it would suspend it. As per its statement, the content subscription service "secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community," suspending the policy change scheduled for October 1, 2021.

The suspension on the ban will probably be well received by all the content creators who earn income from adult content they upload to the platform. Some had already stated that they would move to another platform, but this new turn of events might make them stick with OnlyFans for a while longer.

The main question that stands is, for how long will OnlyFans allow creators to post adult content? Considering the ban has just been suspended, OnlyFans can prohibit it again in the future. This doesn't give much job security to these content creators, so we wouldn't be surprised if they end up changing platforms anyway.

Only Fans absolutely didn't want to walk away from all that porncash.

American females are going to continue to try to use OF to make money the easy way and the simps out there will continue to simp support them.

If OF had stopped cold turkey, some other platform would have just picked up where they left.

In the long run, the thotpocalypse has only been paused.

The thing is, this will only end up with a delayed uproar once Onlyfans is blacklisted similar to Pornhub and has almost all of the userbase suspend payments since they now require something like Crypto.

Remains to be seen but at least for the time being which should be more or less the rest of 2021 sex workers should be relatively ok, but still should plan on not depending on a single platform.

Just have users pay with PayPal or Crytpo. Problem solved. And pay back the OnlyFan members using Paypal. No need to involve credit cards or any bank.

I'm glad to see Only Fans reconfirm its commitment to open crotch software.

But we must remain vigilant.

Simp farming is very viable business. So viable that even Twitch added the word pairs "simp farming" to automod list. The truth must be autosilenced.
And btw, no, no other similar platform can exist, since oligarchs want porn to be more accessible to the public and that valuable wisdom must be behind a paywall.

Most have already switched , the rest have backup account elsewhere already. So damage is done.

PayPal is not unknown to implement the same kind of moralising bullshit in banning the ability for certain people/groups/organisations to make payments to other certain people/groups/organisations in whatever fashion PayPal sees fit.

They're just as bad as the banks

Frankly it should be illegal for banks to prevent customers from sending their money wherever to to whomever they want

I think it was the porn industry who were in fact behind this ban. Not some imaginary religious people (as if anyone would listen to them anyway). It was the top porn industry.

They got used to collecting all the cash from naive simps. Just a few companies that own a large number of porn web sites. They don't want democratic distribution of money. Why would a single-mom earn money without giving corporate pimps a huge cut, right?

Fortunately, democracy has won this time. People wanna pay directly to "performers" and not to some shady pimping corporations that take most of the money earned by their workers. This is one of the rare examples where ordinary people won against corporations.

Encouraged by that, next goal is....... stop mandatory covid vaccination!
