Password recovery tool

Long story short, I saved the program to a flashdrive in case a friend nreeded it but decided to try it on my W10 pc but got confused immediately. Can somebody tell me how its "supposed" to work? TIA

Hi, It depends on what password you are trying to recover, I have found these programs are designed to recover a 'certain' program's key, say 'Office' for example but no others. If it's for reinstalling Windows then the one that worked for me is;

But on that web page there are other programs to recover other keys to your installed programs.
There are other programs that do a similar job.

Nobody has a perfectmemory & not knowing if he would remember his, I thought I'd help but I thought I'd try it on my pc first so I'd know what I was doing. He has Vista , I have W10.
I just wanted to see if it worked for email,websites & such, not logon/windown passwords. I hope that clears my mess up If there is a better tool, link please
