On my HP Laptop. 2025 -10 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64 based systems (KB5066835) (26100-6899) will NOT install, have tried 5 plus times, shut down over night, retried this morning, still says retry, help please

Resetting to factory did not correct the problem, however, there was a message about it not completing, we'll let you know when its ready

Well, strange. The trouble update evidently installed, now am having same problem with Windows 11, verion 25H2 (2)

Related or not, I googled the error code & got this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/a...o-fix-install-error-0x800f081f-for-the-2025-0 AT that link, I tried
Press Win + X or right-click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin).

Enter and run the SFC command:

sfc /scannow
Which does not work. Any suggestions???

Am doing this now "To run the sfc /scannow command on Windows 11 Home, right-click the Start button or search for "cmd," right-click "Command Prompt," and select "Run as administrator". In the administrative Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow and press Enter to begin the scan, which will check and repair corrupted system files.

Still says retry after Windows 11, verion 25H2 (2) updating  . Any suggestions welcome. I run the MS updates 2 to 3 times a week.

I intentionally waited for today in hopes Windows 11, verion 25H2 would install but still no. Anybody know why it won't??

I'm biting a bullet, trying this
A repair installation via Settings should resolve the issue.

Launch Settings > System > Recovery. Under "Fix problems using Windows Update", select "Reinstall now."

This does a repair installation, keeping your files, apps, and settings.
