PC controller will not work on games

I have installed a ps3 controller to my computer, it connects through bluetooth, Windows 7 recognises the controller and all the buttons/axis work. But when i run Call of duty MW2, Anyone have any ideas how to fix? PS ; I run the game through steam, it works perfectly through mouse and keyboard, i would prefer the controller to be the input device.

The info I have found says emphatically the PC CoD MW2 does NOT support the PS3 game controller.

There is an add-on routine that allows mapping of the PS3 controller to keyboard inputs so it'll (supposedly) work.
