PC Virus Protection

So I've been victim to a couple of viruses. I was unfortunate enough to get the facebook virus that was going around. Didn't like that one very much. I was also very unlucky to get a virus that downloaded inappropriate videos and images to my computer. I was even more displeased with that. I did some researching online and I found a Squidoo that had some pretty beneficial steps to giving my PC virus protection. I just wanted to know what sorts of things you do besides purchasing an anti-virus to keep your computer virus free.

You have to realize, that there is no perfect security program. Infections happen.
The very first line of defense is you and your surfing habits.
Is your computer still infected?
What security programs are you using right now?
