Problem installing windows while having a linux partition

I installed turbolinux. Now I want to install XP. I put my XP boot CD but the installation just hangs while checking for system configuration or something like that and then just gives a black screen. I had windows XP earlier but the thing got corrupted so I started using linux ..now however I need to get windows up and running again.

Ive checked the boot cd its fine as it worked on another machine.

Format the drive and make 2 equal partitions. Install XP first on one partition. When XP is set up, install Linux on the other partition
