I have a desktop pc still on XP which I have found faster and more stable than Win & on my laptop but I need to repair the OS as recently I have lost the scanner and camera wizard; I have lost sound completely and cannot get the speaker icon back; and when trying to open word I get a message that the system is not configured tor run this program. I have spent many hours trying the various fixesto be found on the web for these problems without success and of course scandisk asks for a disk to be loaded.
The pc was bought from new but a backup disk was not provided. I have a legal Xp back up disk from a now defunct pc is there any way I can use this to repair my system.
Any advice gratefully received
