Repair shops are booming during heatwaves as people keep putting phones in fridges

Are phones sold in Britain and "the continent" designed differently than ones sold in the U.S ?

[serious question]

The reason I ask is that the temperatures being blamed for device overheating are much the same--or lower--than what the southern U.S., Mexico, South America, Spain, Italy, the Middle East, Africa, Austrailia, and others experience nearly every day. Why then are Brits having so many issues?

WOW, AC is an absolute necessity in some areas like Texas! My dad bought our first window units back in 1963 and we were not a rich family! I would say middle class, I remember seeing one of my dad's payroll checks, it was about $175.00 a week!
In some countries, like in Spain, citizens are not allowed by law to install AC units, to not change the ugly aspect of the facade of their block-of-flats.
