Are phones sold in Britain and "the continent" designed differently than ones sold in the U.S ?

The reason I ask is that the temperatures being blamed for device overheating are much the same--or lower--than what the southern U.S., Mexico, South America, Spain, Italy, the Middle East, Africa, Austrailia, and others experience nearly every day. Also high humiditry every day. Why then are Brits having so many issues?

WOW, AC is an absolute necessity in some areas like Texas! My dad bought our first window units back in 1963 and we were not a rich family! I would say middle class, I remember seeing one of my dad's payroll checks, it was about $175.00 a week!

In some countries, like in Spain, citizens are not allowed by law to install AC units, to not change the ugly aspect of the facade of their block-of-flats.

No. IMHO the vast majority of people lack the knowledge of how anything more complicated than a toaster works. But in the past they also listened to people who had better knowledge and the critical thinking skills to apply it. In our current "influencer" society the people with knowledge get ignored in favour of the more entertaining twits on social platforms. I hate to quote other twits but most people truly are dull witted "sheeple".

In the "past" people used to read books. Nowadays, in the name of DEI, schoolchildren are not even required to read their school textbooks, least they feel overly stressed, oppressed, emotionally challenged or whatever other politically-correct terms They(DEI) are using to describe lazy, uneducated or stupid people.

Wow indeed. You would be very surprised to find how many people in the rest of the world survives on very little more than that, even today. So it is a "no brainer" that they choose not to spend much of that to cope with a heat wave

We weren't speaking of the world in general, but rather European nations where residents have salaries that can easily afford air conditioning ...if their lackwitted governments wouldn't enact policies that make the units too expensive to operate.

I have a 20-something co-worker who seems dismally educated. I find this distressing as she is going to take over management of my department soon, not because she deserves it, but because no one else wants the job. I'm responsible for training her and it's like watching a slow-motion train wreck. I'm leaving because I can finally retire. So sad.

Blame Hollywood as well. The average shot length (time between cuts) in movies and film has steadily dropped over the last 50 years down its present value of just 2.5 seconds.

So this trend, which has been greatly accelerated by social media, doom scrolling etc etc even extends to Hollywood.

There have been a few new/newish movies which are good, but I've found myself strangely irritated by some of them. Could'nt figure out why. Now I know. Thanks. Spot on!!
