Researchers in China say country must develop ways to destroy Starlink satellites

All China would have to do to blank out a lot of them would be to pop an EMP in the area above China to blank them and anything else that high up in the atmosphere. But they would have to continue doing it until they took them all down since they move around.

"Some of the potential military applications of Starlink suggested by the researchers include allowing drones and stealth fighter jets to increase their data transmission speeds by more than 100 times. The satellites could also offer online connectivity to troops in the field, take out high-value targets in space using their ion thrusters, and carry military payloads, according to the paper."

Good enough reasons to destroy them...!

The trouble with that is that it would take out their own satellites (especially those not seriously hardened), and might affect their own electronic equipment on the ground, too.

The good thing about it is that it would likely shut Musk's mouth - except for the fact he would be whining about it in the media and the media would be covering him.

Ion thrusters? I see some are not well educated in the capabilities of current ion thrusters. But what the heck, if the uneducated buy that as a real reason, it has served its propagandist purpose.

I bet you feel right at home on the ArsTechnica forums, surrounded by all kinds of special people. The real world is different, just as Ukraine finds out now.
So, you are telling me that you are finding out the real world is different?

Well, isn't "MAD" the reason we haven't caused the annihilation of our species, (as of yet)?. So, maybe the sensible thing to do would be for China to commission their own, :high speed internet with service accessible to all", for "parity".
They should choose the best option for them. And as the article says, taking them out is the preferred solution at the moment.

If they were used in the conflict to help Ukraine, yes, they should be destroyed.
Why? Why would NOT you support a country that's being invaded? Internet at this point is basically humanitarian aid.

Unless you support a fascist regime's agenda, of course. Along with your "unhackable Windows XP" genius friend QuantumPhysics, who just HAS to declare every time how much he supports the cause of raping, beheading, and so forth of Ukrainian civilians by poor poor Russian invaders. How dare those Ukrainians fight back, how dare we support them protecting their own country.

How the f*ck can you even look in the mirror, seriously. Do some f*cking research, look up the Geneva Conventions, or the the '94 Budapest Memorandum, or what the actual f*ck the term "sovereign country" means, amongst others, because clearly, you not only have absolutely no sense of morality, you also have a complete lack of knowledge on the matter.

I am a neighbor to Ukraine (no, not Russia) and I don't give a flying f about them. They wouldn't have been attacked if they would have been neutral. But they let the USA come there, change the regime and disturb Russia. They should have minded their own business, just like Moldova until lately.

How many times am I going to have to tell people that Quantum Physics is NOT the member claiming to have an "unhackable XP system"? That's "Bullwinkle".

Mr. Physics is the member who owns every stock that's on an upward trend, and two GTX-3090s to boot.
(Pun intended).

I don't actually know exactly what is wrong with QuantumPhysics. I'm guessing that anyone he's ever tried to date has left, and if by some stretch, he has kids, they ain't talking to him anymore.

All that's left is a sad, silly little man yelling on an internet form where nobody wants him.

But the thing is Trump is actually very in the know on the women subject, even if only because he had money so he always had them gravitating around (just like Musk's satellites).
Well, the only way Afghan men seem to be able to hold on to their women us to dress them up in a burqa, keep them out of school, and take the car keys off them. So, the Taliban taking over as soon as the US left came as no surprise to me.

As for women who flock to a man's money they're parasites.

I guess it comes down to what you expect one to mean to you. Do you want a parasite, a life partner, or a slave? You make the call.

I am doing quite well, but thank you for your concern.
The Talibans are doing well for their religion and their beliefs and it is not our job to tell them what to do, as long as they are minding their business. It's not America's job to tell people how to behave on another continent. Not everything has to be progressive and this is a great thing.

I've been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear

You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

There's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interests run

On the radio talk shows and TV
You hear one thing again and again
How the USA stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend
But who are the ones that we call our friends?
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally can't take anymore
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone

And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

There's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flames
Of the wars that are fought in places
Where we can't even say the names

They sell us the president the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us everything from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars

I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can't be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die

And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

Islam in general, is NOT "minding it's own business" unless you call this, "minding it's own business":

r

The one thing the Soviet Socialists did right, was to outlaw religion.

Did you know that the common chimpanzee, (Pan troglodytes), actually make war between clans?

If the war you're referring to as "this one", is the war in Ukraine, and all wars are over "money and power", why did the US congress vote in a bipartisan super majority, to authorize 40 billion dollars in aid to them?

I was referring to the Islamic countries, and to the 9/11.
But it's not like they wired Zelensky the money, most of it went to their guns companies and they will send some of those. I think there is a detailed sheet of how the money will be spent. Some of the money will come back, just like they came back in the past from Ukraine to "the big guy". Another reason is that they want Russia weakened, because somehow they still have the hate for them. They even said this (I am not going to look for the videos where they say that it's better to fight Russia there so they don't need to fight it here, just search it).
Also, they managed to take Russia out of the gas/petrol/coal providing for Europe, and now they sell their expensive LNG and petrol. They will sell more in the future.
Don't worry, they won't lose, but they will win in the long run. Unfortunately.

No, speaking for myself, I don't hate Russians, but Putin is very easy to despise.

We have our "oligarchs" as well. But they don't have to outright steal from the people. Musk, Bezos, and their ilk, have gotten where they are by the proverbial, "building a better mousetrap".

And nobody buys anything from Amazon, at gunpoint".. So, modern empires are built with "the all mighty dollar", (or whatever unit of currency), not by assembling an invasion force. That's way too "old school".

I actually thought things were improving in Russia, after the soviet collapse. The USSR was detestable, as a matter of record. So when someone wants to reassemble it, they take on the reputation and hate as part of that power trip.

The Soviets even took the Caucasian Shepherd dog, and turned it into a hell hound to guard the Berlin Wall.

Putin tried to reason with them, they didn't listen. They were arrogant. And, as a matter of fact, I am also paying for their arrogance and stupidity. Gas has gone up, diesel has gone up, electricity has gone up. And not because of Putin, but because of this stupid EU that only makes choices against its citizens. Viktor Orban is the only clear head in this, protecting his people and not some bullshit progressive agenda. That's why he's also considered "a bad guy".
