In brief: Barely two weeks after releaseing current-generation versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online, Rockstar has revealed a premium subscription service for the game. It contains monthly drops of exclusive in-game content and bonuses and launches at the end of this month.

Starting March 29, GTA Online players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles will be able to sign up to GTA+. For $5.99 a month, they'll receive monthly bonuses of in-game currency and the ability to claim unique properties, vehicle upgrades, and cosmetics.

Upon signing up, subscribers will immediately get $500,000 of in-game money and receive that amount again every month. The perks for the first month, ending April 27, include a car with a complimentary upgrade, a yacht upgrade, multiplied rewards for races, additional bonus money from "GTA+ Shark Cards," and more.

The PS5 and Xbox Series versions of GTAV and GTA Online released on March 15 with enhanced graphics and discount pricing that lasts until June. The PS5 version of GTA Online is free to keep until then, so this could be seen as a way for Rockstar to quickly get some revenue from players on that console.

According to reports from last year, GTA VI — assuming that's what the next main entry will be called — isn't expected to arrive until 2024 or 2025. Last month Rockstar confirmed the next GTA is in active development but didn't share any other details.

Wow so you paid another time for the upgrade (If you're not on PS5 and eventually PS5 again too) even though it's a game almost all of the player base already owned. Then Rockstar wants you to pay a second time, every month, for a pitiful amount of in-game money (500,000 won't even buy you any of the cars on the last couple expansions for example all of them being well over a million, sometimes almost 3 million and with another million on top to fully upgrade) and then throw in some money if you buy more in game money as well?

And if you guys don't keep up Rockstar recently announced that on this "Expanded and Enhanced" version they were going to re-balance what most business pay you so they pay slightly more. A token amount and not actually worth doing if you need a lot of money but quietly has removed most of the weekly event bonuses where one of the businesses to earn money would pay up significantly more so it's substantially better as a money making method but now? Yeah those events are mostly gone: just some extra money on a few races and deathmatch modes which honestly are terrible money makers since they make something like 30,000 to 40,000 already with the event double money and only if you actually win the race or are on the winning team for deathmatches and such (Remember the best money making method, the Cayo Perico heist, can be done solo and pays up up to 1.8 million dollars for about 40 minutes or so of your time for experienced players, which may be time to do maybe 3 or 4 races or deathmatches that if you manage to win them all would give you about 160,000...Less than 10% the money for the same time playing)

Basically they're actually turning the double money events into something you need to have the paid monthly subscription now making it even harder to get any use out of 95% of the game money making methods including all the ones you can get a few things for in the new version (CEO, Bike Club Owner, Night club Owner, that thing)

They're actively making these older content just worst because now they want a monthly payment on top and mostly in addition to one time in-game currency purchases which yes they paint as 'optional' but most new players without active help and following a detailed tutorial of sorts will probably have to resort to since the game is absolutely ridden with bad purchases and traps to make sure you waste what little money you get upfront anyway.

This is so bad it might just flat out kill the game entirely due to backlash.

@Dimitriid That's absolutely horrible. Creating a problem and then selling the cure. Rockstar seems to be on a mission to lose credibility and goodwill.
Just look at the terrible launch of GTA 3 and SA remakes with zero oversight. Their execs are probably busy researching h00kers and white powder, for next GTA ofcourse!

agreed. I earned my first 100 million bucks through casino heist. it was not too difficult since the prep can be done in private lobby and the heist itself is pretty easy once you played every combination at least twice. but that requires a good friend to begin with. with cayo, it is even easier to get your first 100mil bucks since you can do it all alone. for a lot of people, 1million/hour is definitely do-able. no need to pay 6 bucks in real life to get that 500k every month.

I guess the worst problem is inflation. latest motorcycle costs the same as a friggin submarine or a helicopter. newer supercars which costs as much as a turbojet plane. almost all vehicles introduced in the last 12mths start at million bucks. or 1x cayo heist as I'd like to say.

anyway I'll admit there's one glitch that I still use frequently to save time that is the "fast travel" glitch. basically you are trying to start a job on a map and bail immediately. I know it's technically cheating but I hope rockstar never fix it.

Lot of guys will pay cause GTA is their life and 6 a month for them is well worth it. I'd still be playing SP if I didn't need to update the game every few weeks and when on Exede that's a lot of my quota.
If someone wants to pay let them...be tolerant

Can't believe they would pay the $$ for a game that doesn't even have a decent upgrade for the single game players .... you'd think with all that money they could at least come up with a few more challenging missions, vehicles, even a new central character or two .....
