Ryzen Mobile Finally Arrives: AMD Ryzen 5 2500U Review

It would be really cool if you tested this laptop with a 3000 MHz sodimm RAM kit, not only to see if it works, but to see if you get a significant performance increase.

Could it be possible for AMD to put one of these in a small "barebones" mini PC format? Like an AMD equivalent of an Intel NUC. That would be great if done right. For me personally, I tend to lean towards AMD and I also am constantly on the lookout for a "HTPC" solution that is easy and cheap. Taking into account the excellent graphical performance of this chip I think that would be the perfect little mini PC box. Ive never felt satisfied with my HTPC. Ive tried the Chinese Android TV boxes but they leave alot to be desired. I've gotten decent results from a mini itx build but it's rather involved & expensive just to mainly stream content to my TV. I've been looking at NUCs but haven't been persuaded enough to pull the trigger to try one out yet. If AMD released something similar I think I would be interested enough to give it a shot. If not I will probably build another mini itx or give a nuc eventually but have been holding out for something better...

The recently released Ryzen-G desktop APU's (Raven Ridge for AM4) are calling your name then. Simply slap a R3-2200G or R5-2400G into the mITX AM4 mobo of your choosing, add in 8/16GB of 3000/3200MHz DDR4, and finally throw it all in the tiniest little mITX case you can find, and voila! You've essentially got yourself a Raven Ridge based "NUC" (which, with a moderate OC to the CPU & iGPU ala 3.7-3.8GHz + ≈1500MHz, should absolutely scream for the size & price).
