Yeah... this sounds like it will easily get scratched by your keys, or other things in your pocket.

I'm sure Corning already tried this route, but couldn't find a way to harden the outside layer enough to make it worthwhile...

Who puts their phone in the same pocket with their keys?

You have to remember who we are dealing with. There are far too many simpletons who don't seem to have the common sense to put their phones in a different pocket. I've NEVER put my phone in the pocket with keys or change. It really isn't rocket science.
