Bottom line: Samsung has revealed a pair of jeans with smaller pockets specifically designed to fit the Galaxy Z Flip3. The pants are a limited promotional item to call attention to the phone's compact size when folded. The designer jeans won't exactly come cheap, so you're gonna need deep pockets.

Samsung, in collaboration with denim specialists Dr Denim, announced the launch of the Z Flip Pocket Denim, a pair of jeans that celebrates the folding form factor of the Galaxy Z Flip3. A limited-edition run will offer 450 pairs at a price tag of AUS $1,499 (around $1,052). The "statement piece" will also come with a free Galaxy Z Flip3, which retails for around $1,000 by itself.

The back pockets have been completely removed. Instead, one of the pockets situated on the rear has been moved to the front thigh. It is designed to fit the exact dimensions of the Galaxy Z Flip3. Dr Denim has also stitched two large Z patterns over the front pockets. To make the special edition jeans stand out more, both the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Flip Pocket Denim will arrive in stylish Dr Denim packaging.

"Smartphones are often not pocket friendly, so we've leveraged Dr Denim's style credentials to design jeans that shake up the pocket norm and perfectly fit our compact Galaxy Z Flip3," said Samsung Mobile's Head of Brand Marketing Hayley Walton. "Our Galaxy Z Flip3 users expect the very best in design and pocketability, and what better to accompany our premium phones than the perfect pair of bespoke jeans."

Customers can purchase the Z Flip Pocket Denim via Dr Denim's website in both men's and women's styles. Those interested will have to be quick considering the current state of the scalping market. Remember the Xbox Series X refrigerator that got snatched up in minutes?

Samsung's latest foldable devices have displayed staying power in a fiercely competitive market. The Galaxy Z Flip3 and Galaxy Z Fold3 total sales reached 2 million units since their August launch, outselling Samsung's Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Note 20 flagships.

This seemed like a reasonable thing to do, put in a pocket for a specific phone, until I read that they removed the rear pockets. What? Is the cost of two rear pockets, to store my wallet in, excruciatingly too expensive to include in a pair of $500 jeans. Amazing nonsense. Sorry, the jeans are $1500 but come with a free $1000 phone. Weird stuff.

I am sure the rear pockets will be offered as an upgrade in the future for an additional $300.

Probably works out at better value in terms of weight compared to that $20 Apple cloth.

Of course this is just marketing, much like when Apple release a heinously priced monitor stand for example. All the tech journalists will be smashing out free marketing for Samsung over this.

I mean if you think buying a $1500 phone and getting a free pair of jeans is a "good" deal. Most people would look at that price tag and think it was a huge waste of money.
No I don't think that would be a good deal. The article says the US price would be a little over $1000. So for a phone that is said to be $1000 by itself......

The news is confusing. Is 1000 dollars with the phone included or you have to pay apart for the phone?

Damn....is Samsung starting to drink the Kool-Aid that Apple has been swimming in.

So, after I get a pair of these jeans I can now ask my wife to carry my wallet and car keys in her purse because all my other pockets are sewn shut or outright removed, aside from the pocket for the phone. This sounds AMAZING! Thank you Samsung for this worthless waste of material (much like the phone).

Wait what? all I got to say is LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL enough said.
Dumbest thing I have seen on the internet today Thank you TechSpot for a good laugh.

Agreed, pretty damn ridiculous. Not a fan of a pair of Jeans that don't even have rear pockets lolz.

A flip/fold phone will fit into a regular pocket just fine. How about a special pocket for the 6.8" behemoths they insist on selling? Would make a lot more sense there. For me, a 5.5", or even a 5.8" were the perfect size and all this talk about a specialized pocket would be unnecessary. Except that I do like the idea of keeping phones away from my junk, and the large sizes do promote or prevent that. But it doesn't need to cost $1,499. That's just price gouging. Everything in the world is covered up in plum stupidity right now.
