Something to look forward to: Samsung's upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S10, will reportedly be among the first smartphones to support the new Wi-Fi 6 standard. With it (and a compatible router), you'll get improved performance and efficiency, among other benefits.

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 recently visited the FCC, revealing what little remained a mystery about the upcoming flagship. Fortunately, Droid Life has combed through the documents and plucked the pertinent details for us.

According to the publication, the Galaxy S10 will arrive in three flavors: a standard model known as the SM-973U, the Galaxy S10+ with model number SM-G975U and a budget version – model SM-G970U – that could be called the Galaxy S10e or the S10 Lite.

The FCC documents points to support for 802.11ax Wi-Fi, better known as Wi-Fi 6 under the Wi-Fi Alliance’s new naming convention. Wi-Fi 6 promises increased capacity, higher data rates, better efficiency and improved performance in environments with multiple connected devices like homes with lots of IoT gadgets.

We recently published a primer on Wi-Fi 6 for those not quite up to speed on the next-gen standard.

Previous leaks have suggested the Galaxy S10 will arrive with up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage alongside Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC. Pricing could climb as high as $1,800 for the aforementioned top-end model which would be even more than the rumored starting price of Sammy’s foldable phone

Samsung’s next Unpacked event is scheduled for February 20, 2019, just days before the start of Mobile World Congress.

Samsung is going to find out what ever increasing pricing does to market share, as Apple learned. With the "budget" S10 expected to cost $750 and the top of the line one at $1800, more people will simply keep the phones they have, that work without issue.

#1 as far as I'm concerned, these are LUXURY DEVICES. These are not for everyone.

#2 as far as I'm concerned, these expensive devices should not be "annually upgraded" unless you absolutely can afford them.

What's happened with this materialist culture that feels that they MUST have everything they see?

A certain feeling of glee falls over me when I watch these useless parents forced to tell their pathetic underachieving children "NO - mommy can't afford that" when they are pointing at a $1000 phone and have done NOTHING to deserve it.

Samsung and Apple will price their devices to whatever the market will bear.

The mistake is basing so much reputation on performance data based on selling these expensive devices.

They absolutely will sell, but not in numbers as high as they sold between iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus. Same goes for Samsung.

I see no reason in putting in "gimmicks" that the market doesn't really care about (yet).

the current Wifi adapters are doing just fine. Increasing their capability won't make much difference unless the transmitters and routers are upgraded too...which in most places they won't be.

And new generation of pricing, for people not only able to survive the shock of a many digit number, but also accept it as the only way to get a really premium device

What there's no 3rd option? What about the people that will wait until Black Friday when these prices plummet and get this cutting edge phone for 50% off sales.

You don't have to wait until Black Friday, Samsung Galaxy S flagship phones come out in spring and you can buy them at 50% discount in summer and on black friday ppl will buy it for their relatives then Facebook marketplace will be flooded with galaxy devices well over the 50% discount, specially the ones who know nothing about phone pricing and selling a 1200 phone for 400 because it's and unwanted gift.
