Should I wait for 8th generation?

So I wanted to buy a core i5 7500 but I saw specs leak this morning. I thought 8th generation won't be much faster but seeing the specs made me think twice.

Just buy Ryzen 5 1600X. 8.th generation is generally adding more cores and bit more clock speed, nothing else.

And true. As added bonus, 8.th generation needs new motherboards yet almost nothing has changed, even socket has same number of pins, but still incompatible with previous LGA1151 CPU's

Phooey! My present 6600K rig is overkill for my purposes. I'm waiting to see who comes up with a 10 nm platform first. Back at ya...

Also, when the one you presently have fails, you can replace it with a used one for 15% of the price and be happy with that for several years.
