Should users have a phonetic email address?

Good morning. (It is here, Yorkshire, "God's Own County".)

I used to have a traditional email address eg Joe.BlogsAT and got over well 100 spam emails a month. I changed it to what I call a phonetic version eg jay.beeAT and now have one or two of them.

Is this an idea with which you agree and would publicise?

(PS Brilliant site! I've here to download Winaero Tweaker.)

Becoming a spam target seldom as anything to do with the email address itself -- it's only a matter of discovery. Public sites with large volumes of users tend to attract spammers and as a spam target we all get victimized. I had a Yahoo address for some years, used some antispam tools and setup inbox filters but after so long, there just wasn't enough usable content to make it worth the effort so I abandoned that address altogether.

So IMO, a new address whatever it may be, on some social sites will get discovered by spammers and you'll collect the scruff we all do.
