  1. Snapchat’s Live Stories offers members of the photo-and-video messaging app a curated stream of user submitted moments from various locations and events, such as breaking news items, music festivals and cities from around the world. Now, the company has added a new feature called ‘Story Explorer,’ that will show multiple vantage points of the same moment.

The idea behind Story Explorer is to let users dive deeper into a moment that they find interesting. By swiping up on a snap, they can view similar content that was also submitted to the story. If, for example, you’re watching a Live Story of a football game and want to see a touchdown from multiple angles, you can ‘explore’ the moment from different points of view by swiping up to see related pictures and videos. Swiping down will return to the main story.

While the moments featured in Live Stories are curated by Snapchat’s editorial team, the content within Story Explorer will be determined by an automated system that adds relevant Snaps based on their location, submission time and other criteria. Snapchat is reportedly using a video-analyzing computer array to process Story Explorer uploads, according to the LA Times.

“Sometimes what’s happening goes beyond the Snaps we’ve curated into a Story,” the company said in a post. “When you see a moment that inspires or excites you, simply swipe up to see more Snaps of that same moment – from every perspective. It’s the first time you’ll be able to experience that incredible game-winning dunk from thousands of perspectives throughout the stadium – or feel like you’re right there on the scene when breaking news unfolds.”

Story Explorer is rolling out in New York City and Los Angeles at first, but the company says it will expand to more cities “very soon.” The feature will likely help Snapchat be taken more seriously as a news source, putting it in direct competition with Twitter and the microblogging site’s own curated news service, Moments.

The porn industry already did the multi view point idea. I wonder if that is how snapchat thought of it. XD
