Sony Walkman: The First Personal Entertainer

Oh man I loved this. Thanks, Mr. Shoam!

My first big purchase with (mostly) my own money was a Discman in 1984 when I was 14.
One day my parents said they would add the $70 I needed to get one with Springsteen's Born in the USA CD and Agent Provocateur by Foreigner as a Christmas present.
I already had an excellent Technics receiver\speaker's\turntable system I put together with previous Birthdays and Christmases, and busted my *** to add the CD player.
Even though I just connected it with a patch cable at first, I soon added the AC D-50 which snapped on back and gave me RCA outputs.
Then I could put all that snow shoveling and grass cutting towards future Cd's!

"...allowing you to create a "mixtape" with songs from the radio and other cassettes. Duplicating a mixtape was the early physical version of sharing a playlist"

Today young men losses this opportunity, to impress their girls by creating "mixtape" or later "mixcd" of tracks the girls loved, to show them how much the men know their girls and willing to spend hours upon hours of effort in creating the perfect mixes to wow them.
