Sony's digital-only future angers fans, but physical PlayStation games are barely selling

The steam machine isn’t as powerful as a PS5 never mind a new console and the OS is a mess. You think console gamer wants to plug in a keyboard and mouse to try and fix things in the terminal?
Console gamer doesn't need to go into the terminal at all if they use it how they use a console, strictly playing games. It is cheaper to build a pc that is as powerful as the steam machine or better than it would be buying the ps6 and paying for the online if they commit to that insane price tag. Not to mention the keys you can buy off g2a, kinguin, etc. and then you have steam sales that are leaps and bounds better than anything sony will discount.

Might as well build a pc and save money at the same time.

Aside from you do on SteamOS because when something goes wrong, which it will as SteamOS is a pile of crap in desktop, you have to go into desktop mode and go into the terminal.

When you’re locked into steams monopoly.

Who is installing SteamOS on a custom pc? Especially a console gamer to PC, they want what they know. Windows.

Steams monopoly is better than Sonys monopoly. Yes or No?

You also can just go to gog and burn games to a disc to play offline. It is not hard to do on PC. Goodluck doing the same on console.

You are literally the one that compared steam machine to the PS6 and offered it as an alternative.

No because Sony doesn’t have a monopoly on the console market like steam has on PC.

But the price of the games is the same as it is on steam due to their anti compete terms and you’re assuming the game is even available on GoG.

I don't see the appeal of a game console anymore. I can play lots of games on my Android tablet and there's so many, I can't keep track of all of them.

The problem is, they're taking the states exclusively into account, not Japan for example which still has an 85% physical games market, or Europe with a more mixed, but still highly physical AND digital market.

The states have a predominantly digital market, so Sony is assuming the entire world will adopt that mindset too, and I genuinely hope it comes back to bite them.

Problem is, PSN isn't even available in many countries, where as the combination of Steam, GOG, and PC DVD games are widely available. Places where PSN isn't available can't even use a PS6 in general since PS5 and below let you play on a local account with a disc, while the PS6 which needs PSN to download games can only be used there if the PS6, like the PS5 gets jailbroken in the first week and has everything thereon pirated.

I was comparing price only. Even then the steam machine is a bit expensive for what you get. Very easy to build something better for less.

I did not say a monopoly on the console market. Where else can you buy games on playstation? okay, now how many clients and/or launchers can you have on pc? Dalright then.

Take a pick on any other game distributor on pc. Hell even G2A or Kinguin and tell me those are the same prices as steam, GoG, Ubisoft, Battlenet, EA, etc. Can you do that same thing with PS without having to switch accounts to access the content? Is it as easy? no. The savings will be hand over fist to just switch to PC. Even if you end up paying +$500 than the PS6. It is not a hard concept to grasp.
