It's not for you but for the kids and the weak minded. This is how you build a brand image. Also it helps making people believe that living is buying.

Not to defend Facebook and Google, but neither has been shown to be providing secret user data -- including GPS locations -- to a communist regime that places millions of its own citizens in slave-labor genocide camps.

Says who? I think that's what Woz is saying. That we should take data privacy seriously and the rules be applied across the board. Not just wave hands and say as long as they aren't connected to China, it must be alright.

That's just the point that both Woz and yourself miss. This is far, far beyond a simple "data privacy" issue. Facebook data sharing means some company learns you purchase silk stockings and hair regrowth creams. TikTok data sharing means some CCP goon squad shows up at your home to kidnap and/or assassinate you.
