System restore problems hardware error

hi all,

i had a malware problem which i got rid of with the help of the malware forum on this site,but i am still unable to run system restore.ive been told i have a hardware problem and i was asked to forward the following info on to this forum so i can be helped further:

Hmmm... haven't heard of Intel's LMS service before... but a quick Google shows it's legit. Please tell us

my laptop is an acer travelmate 6592g, im running windows xp pro with service pack 3 as far as im aware.
