Tecmo's Super Bowl LIII simulation is one for the ages

Bottom line: If the actual Super Bowl can offer even half as much excitement as this year’s Tecmo simulation, it should be an entertaining affair. If not, well, at least there are the commercials.

Predicting the winner of the Super Bowl using unconventional means is a time-honored tradition, one that the folks behind classic NES football game Tecmo Super Bowl have been participating in for years.

Tecmo recently published its simulation for Super Bowl LIII which is scheduled to take place on February 3 between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.

As you’ll see in the video above, the Rams are ahead by a score of 17-7 at halftime and it remains that way heading into the fourth quarter.

The Patriots tack on a touchdown with less than five minutes left to bring them within three of tying it up. A fumble on the ensuing possession gives the Pats the ball back and New England wastes no time putting it in the end zone.

The final two minutes are especially exciting. I won’t spoil it here except to say that it comes down to the very last play.

Who are you cheering for in this year's big game?

Funny

But no way the Pats are throwing the ball on second and five with under a minute left in the game.

Rams out of timeouts, where is the QB kneel play?

Really? Did you not watch the Saints do exactly that? Cost them a chance at the Super Bowl... yes, it was pass interference - but they should NEVER have passed!

I'm pulling for the Rams - I hate the Pats!

Apples to oranges

Saints were 3rd and 10 at the Rams 13 yardline, tie game, and that foul will not go uncalled again, and Sean Peyton is as arrogant as they come.

Bellicheck would have run the ball, made rams burn last time out, then let them try to drive and kick fg with no timeout and less time on the clock. (If he coached that saints possesion)

lol... they shouldn't have passed AT ALL that possession... all they needed was a field goal to win... they got greedy and it cost them the game.

I think its long over due for techmo to make a comeback.
There are some game company able to pull it off like Inti creates.

Sean Payton

Are you a Saints fan or something? This awful Tecmo Bowl play has nothing to do with that game.

Football is a situational game:

Fact is, up 4 points, 39 seconds in the game, 2nd down and 5 to go, Rams out of timeouts. No one is passing the ball, the game is already over. It was over when the Rams turned it over on downs as the Pats would just kneel on the ball to end the game....

Cmon dude
