The Best Computer Cases

I will stick with my Corsair Obsidian 800D for $299.99 any day of the week. A lot of room for expansion should I decide some day to broaden my equipment. Love my modular 1000 Watt Power Supply that really neatens up the cabling. No more unused unwanted cluttered cables blocking air flow. I stuffed the inside with a nice GIGABYTE Ultra Durable GA-990FXA-UD7 Motherboard and never regretted it. Love the Corsair Dominator 2133MHz matched set of 4 RAM Modules totaling 32GBs. The AMD FX-8150 (3.21GHz) 8-Core Prosessor Black Edition unlocked. Could be a real firecracker if I ever wanted to get into Water Cooling, but I do not find the need for over-clocking as it flies now. I slipped in 2 XFX R7800 Series Video Cards in Cross-Fire configuration, although I only use one so far. The 4-bay hot swapable drive bays is nice as I can slip in drives as needed with different OS's installed on them and thanks to Gigabyte, I can choose during boot which one I want to boot to. If I ever want to make the case look fancy, that is what they make good quality paint for, but I do not mind the plain black. I could always install a custom light show inside the case, but again, I am not looking at the case, I am looking at the monitor. This is a very tough case and I am most thrilled that I bought it. The fans that come with it are very large, but they are also very quiet and effective.

Looking for a super quiet cheap case. Any recommendations?
Search for an Obsidian 800D, quiet, very nice construction, and you will never have to buy another one. Very large fans that are not noisy and move the air. May take you years to fill the case, if ever, but you will have the expandability and hot swapable drive bays in addition to the internal expansion bays. I paid $299.99 for mine 6 years ago.

Funny, that's what I'm using now too.

I was hoping for something quieter.

I find it funny when people ask for a quieter case. It is not the case making the noises. And the only way to make the case quieter is to close off all ventilation. As long as you have a well ventilated case, you will hear the components inside. So it is not the case that needs to be silenced, it is the components inside.

If you need something quieter than that, then I suggest you put your PC in another room and sit in front of a monitor, keyboard and a mouse. An SSD Hard Drive makes no noise by the way, lol. Depending on what you use for a CPU Cooler, those can get loud, so consider the specs of that part. Copper heat sink CPU Coolers coupled with a quieter fan that still moves the air might be a consideration too. I made an error in my post of the price and model number, so I edited them both.

LOL.

SSD's installed. Power supply fans are on demand and rarely run. I can hear the quiet mechanical HD (6 of them) running. CPU fan is upgrade and quiet. MOBO fans are monitored and quiet. I've considered adding insulation. I only hear the computer running when it's quiet in the room. With TV and other ambient noise it's virtually silent.

My original post was intended to solicit inputs on what is the current market trend for ultra-quiet cases.

Agreed!!!

Ok, I see now. You just wanted to say hello and you do not have a problem. I have a perfect solution, use a Virtual Machine (VM). A VM makes no noise at all.

I bought an Enthoo case last year. I like the case except I should have paid more attention to the dimensions. This thing is Yuge! I guess it's a server size case. I was going to send it back, but decide to keep it just to mess with people. When it's time to move, I'll tell somebody who hasn't seen it to go get it for me. Of course I'll follow and retrieve it myself. In the future, I don't want another case so damn big.

Can you tell me the name of the case at the top of the article behind the headline?
It looks like the Phantek cases but they all have solid front panels, and the one at the top has a hex pattern on the top & front. Looks like it might have decent airflow & I love the design.

From what I can find, it's a custom mod done by gosumodz. See here for more details.

I have a problem, please help. I buy cases but then I start to hate them. All of my cases from corsair cooler storm and thermaltake have become unattractive to me. I have PC upgrade addiction.

Stop using a case. Lay all the components out on the desk. It makes cooling easier and it is easy to keep everything clean. Just keep children or pets away. And cups of coffee.
Or build your own case. Some people have used filing cabinets or a variety of other crazy containers. Maybe it could even be done with a 3D printer. If you get good at it, you can make a business out of it.
Or just hide the case. Put it in a press (with ventilation) and forget about it.

By the way, I think we all have PC upgrade addiction. Thankfully we can't afford to be buying new components every few months and the performance gain is rarely worth it. Still, it's nice to read about new products.

ALL of these cases are "nice" in one way or the other, some more than others.... However, as to which one is the "Best" is a very subjective thing. What works for or appeals to one person may not work for or appeal to others.

Although they are older cases, for me the Corsair Air 240/540/740 and my current ThermalTake TT900 Supertower are really nice, and work best for me. But thats because they offer the features and details that I like alot, and I totally understand that someone else may not agree with me, and thats totally OK too......to each his own, as they say :)

So... I'm going to ask the question we are all wondering...

Where is Wallmarts Overpowered PC case? Definitely a good choice if you want to fry everything inside your rig. lol

Strange that I find the cheap cases more attractive. Seems it should be the other way around.
Agreed. I own a Corsair 400c (in black), I don't know if it's one of the cheapest, but I don't recall expending too much on it, and it looks so nice and tidy, it doesn't have annoying lights and it's quiet as it can be!
