The Best Smartphones: What You Should Buy From $200 to Over $1,000

The moto G7 power is a far better deal then the standard G7. That bigger battery will ensure a longer lifespan and, once you get used to it, you cant go back to the 4-6 SoT batteries other phones have.

The Xiaomi mi 9 we have is as close to stock as you can get. There was also no bloatware pre-installed on it and it also doesn't lock applications from being uninstalled.

So not sure where you are getting these ideas from. Someone else also said huawei has spyware in it, where is the proof of these claims?
Or that the google app stores don't work on these devices, again complete nonsense.
It has MIUI, that's not stock Android. I'm willing to try it thinking it has improved though.

Nokia 6.2 USB-C port is weak as. didn't last a year. Old original company, would never have happened, new company has an opening at their QC / R&D dept. so NOKIA! use magnetic attaching plugs in future. and don't ever use Glass as a body as holding it, is harder than holding an eel.
still waiting for them to glue in the broken bit. is it that hard to do guys?

Uhm, no phone other than the google pixel has stock android, not samsung, not oneplus not *ANY* other phone. On that topic samsung is THE WORST offender with messing with the settings menu to make it terribad.
That's a really silly viewpoint, what its called has nothing to do with how closely it resembles the look of stock.

I strongly recommend the Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite if you got $250 to spend.

Indeed Xiaomi and other Chinese brands like Oppo are very under rated. China has many unknown (outside of China) brands with great, fast Android phones sporting top specs and large screens for well under $300 USD.

I have had many problems with USB C ports on phones and I think it is a weakness of the port design itself.

The plug is now stronger and chunkier than a micro USB plug is, whereas the socket has been made thinner in order to accommodate more wires. So if the plug / socket combination is forced to breaking point by leaning on it etc when they are connected to each other, it is the socket in the phone that breaks.

This is most unfortunate because phone repairs are costly and time consuming whereas buying a new cable is no big deal.

Happy RedmiNote2 user since march 2016,
dev ROM and the thing start to work as intended
COD 175 euros, including second battery (3800 mAph, still unopened), glass and a leather case
I dont even think to change it

"Nokia 6.2 USB-C port is weak as. didn't last a year."

Really? I call BS. Total BS. Why? Because the Nokia 6.2 was released in October 2019, so unless you have a time machine there's no way you could have had it.

The problem I have with Xiaomi and Huawei is their software. It looks almost nothing like Android and is just one giant piece of bloatware. I like the Android One phones that they have but they are usually lower end. Samsungs One UI looks like a masterpiece compared to theirs.

Xiaomi offers phones under the Android One program: stock, bloatware free Android driven by Google. Even the two apps they include for support can be removed. Newest one is the Xiaomi MiA3, but the MiA2 and MiA2 lite can be found and they are updated at least once a month. That are cheap as chips and the A3 with Snapdragon 665, 64GB of storage, AMOLED HD+ screen and Sony IMX main sensor + wide angle camera can be found at around 200usd down here.

I don't know if you read the comment you quoted but I mentioned Android One phones, which are usually lower-end. In this case, Mi A3, looks great except it only has an HD resolution and pretty low max brightness, colors are overly saturated as well. Other than that it looks pretty good. Mi A2 doesn't have a headphone jack.

I think Asus Zenfone 6 2019 should have been the best value phone. Otherwise, yes, this looks like a paid advertisement by Samsung and Apple.
I had an *** us tablet:: very nice, but had problem and found out that their support was just about non existent. Took me months to iron out a problem that should have taken one call.
bottom line, nice product that works good unless you need help, then forget it.

Apple or Samsung? Really?! I recently picked up a Xiaomi Mi9 and it's a beast for the price. Oneplus 7T deserves much more than a "value phone" spot, it's pretty expensive after all.

Huawei P20/P30 didn't even make the list? (guess the trade wars are real). As for the budget market there are tons of "lesser known" brands nowadays with things like the ulefone armor. They are not super fast but have a ton of features.

Xiaomi also did not make the list for budget phone.
The list, is a joke lol!

Still on my S9 Plus with close to 7 hrs sot. Had a Pixel before but I like my Samsung much better, despite the bloat like Bixby. However, some of the bloat is great, like the side app drawer.

I don't know but everytime I see this articles about phones from techspot I have the feeling that they make them just to say that the iPhone is the best phone you can buy... same pictures of iphones everywhere... maybe it's just me but yeah.

I now exclusively buy my phones on ebay, you can now get a brand new LG V20 for less than $100... Who can beat that? Or a V30 for something between $150-$200, not to mention other former flagships that easily get the job done. My V20 is fantastic with its quad DAC, and the Snapdragon 820 still does the job without a hitch. Why pay thousands of dollars for a device that will be outdated by the time you get back home from the store? When I see a phone a year after it came out at a fraction of the price on ebay, I cannot help but wonder how can some people accept to be ripped off like that... :))
