I'm visually impaired in the process of going blind ( I have retinitis pigmentosa) , I'm usually housebound and a computer is my access to the world. The one I have currently is painfully slow and almost useless. I use computers to listen to books, music and news. Enable more creative outlets, research ideas and hobbies, Interact with people and even take courses online. Of course I love to play games as well. A large screens would be so useful to me since I have the zoom all the way up. I would love a laptop as well so I could more mobile when I'm computing ( I don't own a smart phone), I could use it to help me do things like read labels, keep me from getting lost when wandering on my own, take notes and look up information when attending one of my activist/community meetings or just be able to sit outside and still be connected to the world. I rely on computers for most of my social interactions and I'm aware of many computer programs that could assist me in becoming more interactive and independent in the world around me. ( like one where you hold an item in front of the camera and the program tells you what it is or what it says. Another program which tells you the domination of currency and there are so many more useful computer programs for the blind and visually impaired ) This computer bundle would be a great boon to the quality of my life. I would like to win this setup so:
I can finally quit having to use an Android device to do everything. My laptop died two years ago so I saved up money to get a Surface Pro 3. When I got the Pro the battery wouldn't hold a charge so I called and talked to a tech who told m to send it in to repairs.. They returned it with a note saying they would not repair it because it had been tampered with (if it had been tampered with that is the condition they sent it to me in). So now I have a couple of expensive paperweights.
