Sadly there doesn't seem to be much research on nicotine alone. I tried to look up a previous article that might have duped me but couldn't find it. Anyways this seems to be the most pertinent info.Banning flavours hurts adults more than it helps teenagers. Adults like flavours too. The reason vaping is so effective for quitting smoking is because of flavours. Teenagers are going to experiment no matter what, that's what teenagers do. While they shouldn't smoke or vape, I would much rather they experiment with vaping being that it is minimally 95% safer than smoking (and much less addictive).
Caffeine can also be used as a pesticide. Nicotine on it's own in it's diluted state (0.05% to at most 5%) found in e liquid is relatively harmless. Nicotine's addictiveness is directly comparible to that of Caffeine - when it's _not_ combined with Ammonia which is added to cigarettes (making smoking significantly more addictive).
Latest studies show incredible similarities between Caffeine and Nicotine. Both may prevent Parkinsons and Alzeimers. Both are stimulants. Both can be hard on your heart if you're old or have heart issues. Teenagers and old people should not be consuming either of them.
Teenagers are notorious for consuming alcohol as well. Should we ban flavoured alcohol?

"The nicotine in e-cigarettes seems to damage DNA in ways that may increase cancer risk, a new study in mice suggests.
"We found the solvent alone does not cause DNA damage," Tang said. "Nicotine with e-cigarette solvent caused the same damage as nicotine alone." (Mice)
The researchers also exposed cultured human lung and bladder cells to nicotine, and found the same effects—DNA damage and suppressed DNA repair.
The next step of the research is underway, in which mice are exposed to nicotine and e-cigarette vapor long-term to see if they actually develop cancer or heart disease, Tang added.

I found a research paper on nicotine effects from 1997 when they were deciding on whether or not to introduce nicotine gum and it's effects. Anyone vaping would probably be interested in it. A doctor would be the best person to interrupt all of the info.
