The world's largest iceberg is rapidly breaking apart and melting away

That is correlation - it’s PROBABLY accurate but we can never be 100% sure of anything that happened before we had actual humans recording it.
100%? No, but when you read the articles on ice core samples, you will know why
they are relied on as heavily as they are. The gasses they trapped are just as viable as they were the moment they were frozen, to just wait until we needed them.
They have been referred to as time machine's for good reason.

They are great - and can give invaluable data.

But once again, you can’t rely on ANYTHING that we have t been able to observe directly as our comprehension is never 100%…

We simply don’t have the ability, without a Time Machine, to know 100% what the exact temperatures were in our world more than 150-200 years ago.

K, well not exactly, no. But, we are not in the dark either (this is very interesting)

“Temperature, in contrast, is not measured directly, but is instead inferred from the isotopic composition of the water molecules released by melting the ice cores.”
It is a great tool for checking a broad range of time… but not so useful for a specific temperature - which we only have data for a century or 2 depending on the location…
