Time changed automatically in Vista

I have windows vista. today in the mornign after i used my laptop i shut downed and like 2 hours ago when i went back on it the time was chnaged automatically to dec 31, 2004 and i fixed the time and date..

now these are some of the problems that i am encountering

i have symantec and is up to date
in security center it says its out of date..dont know why

but the thing i dont get is how can it change date and time automatically.. i never even touched it...

It sounds to me like your cmos battery is in need of replacement.
