Too hard for me

I came here in search of some info.
I wound up in this thread about "Adding newer drives to Windows XP and 8
Someone talked about UBCD4WIn about which I know something so I tried to make a contribution. Why did I bother?.
So I have to register - fair enough
Then the confirmation email gets lost in spam. Eventually I find it
So I paste the URL into a browser and get told its OK and return to the thread.
Click Post new reply - and nothing happens.
Reading more carefully I find some 6 pt at the bottom that says (Posting here requires special permissions. Check out the forum FAQ for more information.)

But can I find any FAQ anywhere. No chance.
so here for a quick rant and off to do something useful elsewhere

Admin - you have to make this easier. everyone else does

As I understand, the Virus Removal forum requires permissions but all else is open to registered users.

The only time I've seen " (Posting here requires special permissions" is when I've been in the Virus/Malware section which I understand it to mean only helpers can reply/help.
I also agree with jobead. If you started the thread, you should be able to reply.
