Not only is Samsung planning to announce Google TV hardware in January, but it looks like Toshiba and Vizio will be joining the fray at CES as well. The news comes from "people familiar with the matter," according to Bloomberg.

It's unclear what type of devices the trio are planning on announcing, but given that all three companies currently sell TVs, chances are they will be Google TV-enabled TV sets. Samsung, Vizio, and Toshiba would thus join Sony and Logitech as the only companies that have Google TV offerings.

If this news holds true (none of the manufacturers have officially confirmed the plans), it would certainly give a boost to the platform. Google is currently struggling with TV networks blocking their content from being accessible on Google TV devices. The company insists it's not trying to replace cable TV but ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Hulu, and Viacom have all jumped on the bandwagon that is rapidly trying to distance itself from the search giant. Despite this, it looks like Google's hardware partners are interested in pushing forward.

"We are very happy with the launch of Google TV with our initial partners Sony, Logitech and Intel," a Google spokesperson said in a statement. "Our long-term goal is to collaborate with a broad community of consumer electronics manufacturers to help drive the next generation, TV-watching experience."

Too bad Google TV is being blocked by a lot of online content providers. It really has potential otherwise.
