TouchPad quit working

Don't know when, but I recently noticed my TouchPad on my Acer quit working. I tried a few things from here https://www.google.com/search?q=tou...ome..69i57.12469j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
but gave up hoping a reset to factory might fix it, nope. Any suggestions? Acer laptop, w 10, several months old, possibly out of warranty. USB mouse works fine.

NOT in any specific order, but I cannot find any setting "off" for the touchpad, confused

Fn + F7 Touchpad toggle Turns the built-in touchpad on and off.
Yet when I do such, I get a pop up saying "Turn on caret browsing?
You can navigate pages with a text cursor . Press F7 to turn off. Still not making much sense/head way.

NO where in ANY of the link(s) I've posted does it give an order in which way to use FN keys. I just now shut it down, unplugged my USB mouse & booted it up. Tapped the F7 key & Fn key & touchPad now works, hope it still works after I plug USB mouse back in .It does
