Trump pauses global tariffs but raises China tariffs to 125%, potentially impacting laptops, monitors, and consoles

Here is what I see, I'm now designing little plastic pieces to sell on ebay from my 3d printer related to the retro hobby, until now it hasn't been economically feasible for me to print at home and make money because my costs exceed what China sells their cheap plastic pieces for. I can now make a small profit selling things like 5 1/4 to 3 1/2 drive adapters and generic bay covers because of the tariff's. It's a boon for me and opens up a possible new revenue stream for me. Thats a win.

Great… you represent what? .001 percent of the population? Congrats that you’ll make a few bucks while everyone else starves…

maybe other people should spin up manufacturing also, this is a golden time to start making things here again, the sky isn't falling, invest in American made, invest in factories, Mills, forges, refineries, smelters ect

The only people that should be starving are our enemies in China.

Yeah… 1 guy in his basement “manufacturing” stuff is not how an economy is gonna work…

We need factories and mass-produced stuff … call me when you can ship a million pieces of plastic a week…

My point stands we need to start investing in it, compaines are already starting to invest in opening new factories here, new mills ect, give it time. I'm choosing to only buy products that are sourced and made in America unless there isn't an American version, I choose to support American compaines first and foremost.

That’s awfully self-sacrificial of you… alas, the vast majority of Americans are not willing to do that…

Not to mention “start investing “ in anything shouldn’t start with massive tariffs… you’re supposed to invest FIRST, THEN tariff…

they have no reason to invest otherwise, the whole reason our manufacturing jobs left is because its cheaper to do it elsewhere, no one was going to bring them back unless it was cheaper here suddenly, the reason to invest now exists.

The reason it's cheaper is because wages and materials are cheaper overseas... while tariffs can help a bit with materials, unless American citizens are willing to work in these factories for minimum wage (or less), it's not going to make things cheap enough...

a rising tide lifts all boats, higher wages mean those workers can afford to buy the more expensive items, its time to get back to the good life when we made stuff here and people made good money making stuff here that everyone could afford.

You’ve had plenty of high wages - and the inequality in them compared to the other nations is why you don’t have any jobs any more…

And a rising tide lifts all boats - but what goes up, must come down… and if the water’s gone when the boats fall, then all you have is kindling…

Seems like the first ear-shot incident was staged with us flag prop background heroism. He came to fame with that photo shoot. Hopefully Americans are not dumb enough to believe him. But.....more than half of the americans voted for this loud-mouthed, arrogant U-turn guy. Hopefully he won't pull the rest of the world down along with him.

Whatever he does, and doing, is all for the rich guys in the us. Anything he does is not for America but for himself and his richest American friends.. Hopefully the people of the US realize this.

But I guess not.
TBF, actually only about 1/3rd voted for him. 1/3rd for Kamala and 1/3rd didnt vote. He did get more votes than Kamala but it averages out to about 1/3rd of the voting population.

manufacturing isnt going to do anything. Manufacturing plants are run by robots, not people. It doesnt bring jobs back to the USA.

This isnt the 1940s.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried
Oh I think he could - he could say what you are saying instead 😀

Now… usually… when someone thinks someone is wrong, they present some sort of evidence…

I look forward to seeing yours - cause as of now, all of the evidence seems to be backing him.

Except there is no evidence for him but there is evidence with every last one of these Mills that is reopening every factory that reopens to actually has jobs in it.

Robots do some of the work but they don't do all the work you still need guys to pull stuff off the line and stack it and then to drive the forklift over to put it on the pallet wrapper and load it into the truck. And that's at some places in my youth I worked in a lumber mill they went out of business cuz it going to compete with Canadian lumber but we manufactured veneer. Wasn't a robot in sight One guy shaved the log down which then got moved over to the dryer which then went out to the cutter which then ran through another process and each one of these steps was done by a person where it got down to me and my job was to pull it off the line and stack it so that it could be picked up by a pallet jack wants the pallet was full and moved over to the next line where it would be combined with multiple sheets of veneer to make plywood. Thosejobs are coming back too. Most are not going to actually be automated by robot, The cost is too high to do it so unless there's in whole shipping a factory back to the states that has the robots they're probably going to staff it with normal workers. Robots take time to get ready and they're expensive

I’m assuming your youth was a long time ago… what were your wages in that factory? They can’t be high or the product can’t compete with another country’s - tariffs only offset so much…

The standard of living that Americans (and Canadians, Europeans, etc) have grown accustomed to rely on the cheap labour provided by the less developed nations. As those nations catch up, there will inevitably be problems.

Ideally, every nation will have the same rights and freedoms as well as wages… meaning no nation will have an unfair advantage when it comes to labour… but that’s a long time coming - longer if the US cripples them with tariffs…

Ah yes, you're the usual internet "expert" here to explain that the Orange Turd isn't a grade-A brain-dead *****, but in fact playing 4D chess with the world's economy!
4D chess? I mean hes just raising tariffs in order to encourage manufacturing to return to the USA and to use as leverage against countries in order to get concessions.

Its not a difficult strategy to comprehend. I would say if you thought its "4D chess" then you might be well "brain dead" as you put it.

Trumps strategy is clearly working aswell. Most countries are reaching out to the USA to make a deal.

But I dont expect anyone who opposes Trump to know or care. It seems the agenda of people like you is to hurl abuse at people who voted for the person you didnt vote for. Its boring and transparent.

You could already buy American-made today. The only difference is that the same American-made will be more expensive tomorrow because of less competition and inflation.
Its not about being able to buy American made or locking out competition. Its about the flow of wealth. If you buy an imported product then some of that money has been exported to wherever that is made. Those workers will spend that money in their own economy. On the other hand, if that money is staying in the country, it can then be spent here creating more profits for others and then also taxed to raise money for the government.

And so far, we haven't seen an increase in prices anywhere near as much as we say after the pandemic. Inflation is falling right now. Not rising.

Lol all the cultists trying to pass off trump trying to promote chip and phone manufacturing in the USA and he just exempted both from tariffs. Now these gullible fools will be saying that was his plan all along. He can't make up how stupid trump is and its mind numbing anyone supports him.
