Trump says Apple is building three "big" and "beautiful" plants in the United States

Actually we don't need people to be more productive. America has some of the most overworked employees in the world. Compared to other 1st world countries, the average american worker takes home less money, has less benefits, takes less vacation time, and works more hours. In addition, the average skill level of American works has subsequently fallen over the years in correlation to the education budget. Trade schools are rare and the education level of the average american has hardly improved the last 20 years. Most rust belt worker who need the jobs the most are also in need of the most training, they simply don't have the skill set to work in technology jobs.
Actually we do, everything you just said as some sort of negative I view as a positive, American's work hard and it's something we are known for. There is a lot of people that have no desire to sit in a office for 40-50 hours a week they want to be doing something everyday, those jobs have gone away in larger numbers over the last decade or two. All the Europeans I gamed with were amazed that I don't get 4-6 weeks of mandatory vacation, or work 30 hour weeks. I wouldn't want to have 6 weeks off from my job, and I really prefer working for 30-40 hours if I like my job, and I am not alone in that. Things like this where companies are committing to growing production work in the USA brings back some of those jobs, not always the highest paying but not everyone is out to make millions, studies have shown people who make enough money to live off of, while being able to put some away and have entertainment are the least stressed people in the USA. I don't think a American company like apple, Microsoft, intel, car companies, aerospace should be forced to make everything here in the USA, but there should be a effort to have 10-25% of there products made here in the USA. Being able to put Made and Supported in USA on a product is still good marketing, it's something people want to see.
I used to work for Kodak before they imploded. They had an award named after a worker who compulsively worked long hours and never took her vacations. She died with at least part of the cause being attributed to exhaustion. I am sure this is not the only case in the US where this sort of thing has happened. Everyone needs down time and play time - even if they do not think they do.

In fact, recent studies point to productivity INCREASING when people take time to play and relax.

As a Canadian who reads Techspot daily I see such an increase in comments on anything political on Techspot. It is unfortunate that the states and the general US population are so heavily divided by the current political situation.

In regards to the article though, business is business and Apple should be free to make whatever decisions they want to ensure their business is profitable. In a free democratic society being told by a politician where to build their “beautiful” plants is bizarre.

I question anyone who says they don't want more PTO, but then again you're probably not under a large amount of stress from trying to balance work and life when only working 30-40 hours compared to 50-60. While I see where you are coming from I would have to side with Evernessince here.

But she was still given prob two weeks of Vacation a year? She choose not to use it, I stil use my week or two of vacation a year, but I am not going to take 4 weeks off. I hate the weekend concept, unless you have kids, pretty much everyone I know likes have split days off, let's you get more done and makes the work week seem less drawn out. The biggest studies have shown proper brakes throughout the workday are best for productivity, taking 4-5 20 min breaks a day helps most people (including myself) stay more productive over the tradition 1-2 10 min breaks and a meal/lunch break.

This is very good news if things happen quickly.

Note: I think the article author shouldn't be a writer for techspot. You can easily see his hate for Trump looking at the intentionally chosen pic, to the tag line, to the political position of "outsourcing is good for business". Techspot (while it would be there right to) shouldn't take sides if they want to seem like an unbiased tech site.

Oh be quiet, he's stating facts - you're the one being bias.
No...you be quiet. He was spot-on with his observations and I thought the exact same things while reading the article.

Good morning sir! I have to disagree with you. I was trying to find pictures of Trump and Cook in the same frame and most of the pictures were what I posted. I did not take an actual stance as to whether outsourcing was good or bad for business. However, objectively, outsourcing allows businesses to spend less on labor in order to maximize profits...that's why they do it. Hence the phrase "from a business perspective". While I do have my own convictions, I always make sure to view things from multiple angles and viewpoints and let the readers make up their minds. Thanks!
Then it would have also been fair to note that Trump is working on a tax plan that lowers taxes for businesses (as well as individuals & families), cutting stifling regulations, and taking other measures that are aimed at making American companies & manufacturers more price competitive globally. What he's working on are all pieces of a larger puzzle to bring manufacturing & jobs back to America and make it profitable for everyone.

She was at a level where she had four weeks off.

Good luck getting the rest of the 9-5/5 world to embrace your viewpoint. Yep. I get the idea of breaks, and if you work at a company that embraces that as well as the no weekend concept, that is a bit of luck for you.

If you were forced to take it by your employer or in a country where it is law, I bet that you would find ways to make 4 - 6 weeks of PTO productive for you.

Yes, and he also said he is working on a plan to have surgeons turn him into the Easter Bunny, too! I can't wait to see that!

And you thought today's iPhone prices were high.

Trump is an absolute m0ron.
The current administration is the laughing stock of the world. Thanks for the laughs.
Only a laughing stock among that minority of losers that voted for the criminal Hillary.

Not necessarily. Ethically, I believe a company should do right by the company it is based in. However, I also understand that CEO's must also take the profitability of their company into consideration. Because of the United States' higher cost of living, it costs much more to hire inside the United States. Therefore, perhaps the government could provide more incentives for businesses to hire more Americans instead of outsourcing or make it attractive for foreigners to come to the US to work and keep the money inside US bounderies.
awesome, this is EXACTLY what trump feels too.
