What amuses me is that these tariffs will make using slave labour in countries like India and China less profitable than building a factory in America and paying fairer wages. Its like the most humane thing an American leader has done for a good while.

How does Vietnam, (over 90% tariff imposed by Trump) a nation with a huge trade deficit with the US but zero trade barriers (no tariffs) stop imposing the trade restrictions that they never had in the first place?

This is the case of a lot of nations; they never had any trade barriers with us, and Trump is punishing them and us anyway.

FFS I hate that all the people who come out to defend Trump are so uniformed on EVERTHING. It is so tedious to have to educate and argue with these people at the same time. GAIN SOME GRASP ON REALITY BEFORE YOU DEBATE IT.

The countries that do have tariffs (and many of them do) have it to protect certain sectors or industries, not an across the board tariffs like the US is doing. Canada for example does have a high tariff on milk and dairy products coming from the US. This is done to protect Canadian farmers and not to screw America over. If Canada were to remove that specific tariff American farmers would flood the market with cheap dairy products and basically drive every Canadian farmer out of business. I'm sure Americans would have no problem with that.

Anything that makes America richer is fine by MAGA-tards, even if it means destroying another country's economy or farming sector. The same is true for many other countries trying to protect their own economies. Americans couldn't care less about that. What the Orange Turd really wants is to enrich America even further (never mind the fact it's already the richest country on the planet) at the expense of hurting the economies of just about every country that has a half decent economy.

I hope most countries don't give in to this extortion, which is what this really is. The result might that many of the bigger countries will band together against America. The thing about history is that it repeats itself. If you look back far enough you'll see that empires rise and fall. Nothing lasts forever. Trump and his MAGA crowd think they can extort the entire world and every country will simply bend over and take it. The real end result might be something quite different.

Maybe it's time for a change and the world needs to put an end to American style capitalism.

Get that through your thick skull. First, a large portion of manufacturing is done by robots and automation now, so yeah, you can bring the robots back to America if you want and hire 20 new people to maintain them. Second, manufacturing will be moved to the next cheapest country if you put a high enough tariff on China. America is literally the last country anyone wants to manufacture anything because it costs too much. MAGA's idea of "fair wages" is getting $30+/hr with full benefits for people with high school education who just want to push a button 8 hrs a day. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

The fact is you dont know for sure whats going to happen. Nobody does. And judging by what you have written, you appear to be very emotionally upset about Donald Trump and his supporters. Which tells me that you are probably quite biased when it comes to these tariffs and you are most likely not an expert and just using this as an opportunity to verbally abuse people you disagree with.

My opinion is that this will have a small hit that will last a year or so but in the long-term manufacturing will come back to America and these tariffs will be a good thing. I would say it needs to get through to your thick skull but I don't think there's anything inside your skull to get through to....

What slays me the most is the reaction on here. As I recall, there was this kind of hand wringing the last time over graphics cards, yet they sold every one made.
The bottom line is this: If Trump imposes a tariff, it's the end of the world, I'll never be able to afford any PC or hardware or software ever again.

If Nvidia, Nintendo, et al raise their prices (either outright, or through artificial shortages), everybody camps out overnight to shell out their last dollar to buy at ludicrous prices.

Why not wait and see how things shake out? Especially since you can't do anything about it anyway.
Or is this whole damn thing more about Trump than about the cost of PC gaming?

For what it's worth, the March jobs report came in at 228,000 new jobs. A damn good number, and above expectations.
