Everything was working fine until I tried to download an application from an unknown site (which I do not remember). I file which I downloaded was not actually the actual file, but it was an .exe file which starts the download process. I needed that file in urgent so I did it without thinking about the security of my Laptop. I was able to download the file successfully, but along with it there were some programs which were installed on my computer. These programs made my Laptop to run slowly because of some background processes running on it.
After all this, these are some of the changes ( or I should say problems) I noticed :
  • On Laptop restart, my default browser (which is Mozillla Firefox) opens automatically and opens a page something like http://time-to-read.ru/?utm_source=.......
  • While in running state, even if my browser is closed, again some pages opens up in front with some pages like http://granena.ru/?utm_source=...... or http://ad.adpop-1.com/adv_out?...... or something else.
  • The default homepage and newtab page of Firefox is set to http://www.searchinme.com//?...... which I cannot change even after resetting and reinstalling of the browser.
  • And this is not only with Firefox, even Internet Explorer's homepage is changed to some other page.
  • Along with this problem I saw some apps automatically getting installed in my laptop. These apps are mostly for some softwares or games which uses internet connections and also sometimes it installs Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox (even when I already had Firefox installed).
  • My Windows Defender started showing notifications that it found some Malware but when I scan my system, it cannot detect any threats.
I tried to search the solution on Google but was not able to fully resolve the problems, I opened Program Files folder and deleted all the files and folders which were installed automatically after that day (I remembered the date), by doing so, I stopped the automatic installation of some applications. But still I cannot stop installing of Chrome and Firefox. Also the most irritating one is that ads which popup without any reason. -_-
I am totally fed up of this, trying to search the solutions for it but no result achieved yet.
