Unmountable boot volume?

What the hell does this mean, every apparent Disk Dr that seems to be going, ends up the same way. It also says 2 or more unrecoverable errors. It is Dell 5150 thats causing the problems.

any help would be great

Your hard drive is bad... It will have to be replaced. How will you do this? Take the computer to a friend or to a repair shop?

the hard drive has corruption it does not need replacing as yet try booting from an xp cd and choose repair or boot to a dos prompt from the cd and type fix/mbr or even try fixboot.exe

thanks for advice, had a feeling it was that just hoped it wasn't. Oh well looks like a new hard drive....bugger!. I Hate computers.

It's a Dell 5150. The hard drive is an old Western Digital or Maxtor drive, and the drive is bad!
