After launching at the end of August, YouTube Gaming has its first notable update. Now you can stream directly from your mobile phone using Mobile Capture on Android. It uses the selfie camera to record your face and place it in the corner of your stream while playing.

Another part of the update is that you can pay $3.99 a month for a Sponsorship subscription (one dollar less than Twitch’s comparable program) that supports your favorite streamers — you also get a special badge and more. One thing the price doesn’t do is remove advertisements.

There are also a few minor feature tweaks on the site and mobile app included in this update. Now users can more easily add games to their collection and view when live streams are happening. YouTube’s watch later function is also now included in YouTube Gaming. The watch page on the website got a redesign and the app will remember your searches.

And if you’re curious, YouTube announced that 144 billion minutes of recorded gaming videos and live streams are watched on YouTube each month. Given YouTube’s huge audience and popularity, they could become a real Twitch competitor if they keep making improvements and rolling out new features to YouTube Gaming.

Permalink to story.

https://www.techspot.com/news/62443-updated-youtube-gaming-supports-mobile-streaming-becomes-little.html
[/parsehtml]
