USB memory stick works on Vista but not on XP

I was trying to backup some files by putting them on a memory stick and saving them onto another pc but the memory stick only works with the vista machine. in the past it did work with with does the fact that it has hardly no space on it have anything to do with that.

no.. space or remaining space is irrelevant.

what happens when you plug in the stick to the XP machine, does it see it, make any noises, etc
have you tried another USB device in the machine such as a camera, printer or webcam.

it seems that it was a one time thing because just plugged it in to test and it has worked and the autoplay too. what do you think?

Sometimes, the only thing 100% certain about computers is there " ain't nuthin' " 100% certain about computers!
