I have a beautiful 27" Acer IPS 144hz Gsync 1440p monitor and it rocks. The only thing better would be with HDR. I don't care about 4k yet because we don't have video cards capable of pushing 4k to 120+ FPS with graphics maxed out and wont for a few more years.
Anyways, that being said screw nvidia and their cost on this.
They finally did something consumer focused for a change and the only reason I suspect this is the case is because FreeSync is going to be coming to a lot of living room TV's in the near future, especially as PS5 and Xbox 4 are being rumored to provide FreeSync and they felt they would be at a competitive disadvantage if they didn't support it.
or... a bunch of nVidia people have looked at the dozens of FreeSync monitors out there and are tired they can't get the same in Gsync and decided to fix it.
