Using Office 2010

I am running Windows 10 on my home PC and have Office 2010 installed. I am aware that support is disappearing soon and my question is will it be safe to continue using Office 2010 or do I need to upgrade to Office 365 ( which I think is Office 2019 )
I like using the Outlook option for email. It is clear and uncluttered and I would like to continue using it. As far as the other Office apps are concerned I only use Publisher and Word.
I believe without new security updates any emails with attachments 'might' contain a virus which would not be spotted but I believe that as long as all I do is right click the attachments and run my anti-virus software to check them before opening them I would be ok.

Can anyone advise what my best options are.

I have been told that if I upgrade to Office 2019 there is no going back to Office 2010 if I don't like it and that when I upgrade my pc ( which I will be doing sometime ) I won't be able to continue using Office 2010 anyway.

When the updates stop for Office 2010 it is possible someone could use a previously unknown exploit to run code on your machine without your knowledge. If you are accepting and exchanging office files with others I think it is a good idea to consider Office 365 since that would always give you the latest version of Office as long as you maintain your subscription. We are now at Office 2021.

Going back to Office 2010 would probably not work since I am pretty sure they turned off activation for that:

If you don't do Office 365 then you would have to look at Microsoft Office Professional to get to Publisher.

There's three main options. You can ditch Microsoft and go for one of the freeware office alternatives - these are reportedly very good. There's the subscription route with Office 365 that Microsoft push pretty hard. Otherwise, you can go for a one off payment to get Microsoft Office Pro 2019 or 2021. I've got most versions of Microsoft Office apart from Office 365 on my various computers and they all seem much the same to me. If your eyes water at the cost of buying from Microsoft investigate keys for Microsoft Office Pro on ebay. It's probably as well to avoid the cheapest sellers. I'd also steer well clear of any keygen solutions (pirating) to avoid security worries.
