Valve CEO Gabe Newell wants to discuss relocating game developers to New Zealand

North Korea also has zero COVID-19 infected patients.
At least those who survived testing...

I like how you said "zero patients" not "zero infected"...

"Our hospitals are doing fine and we have plenty of capacity!" (In the background you hear wailing as they drag those that test postive over to a ditch, shoot them, and dump them in).

Well I live here in New Zealand and I can tell you it was the leadership of our Govt that acted quickly in shutting our borders and putting the country into lockdown early. We all did our bit over here(well almost all of us) and now we are reaping the benefits from that. Yes the fact we are isolated has helped but that is only one of the reasons. We have a good fast contact tracing system in place which when needed swings into action very quickly to isolate anyone who gets Covid. Our biggest threats are cargo ships entering the ports and New Zealander's returning home with Covid. But life is back to fairly normal conditions over here and has been for sometime with the exemption of an outbreak which placed Auckland back into lockdown for a bit but that"s all sorted now. Just this weekend we had an international rugby game with a full stadium of fans. As of right now I wouldn't wont to live anywhere else.

Which is the big question in my mind. Do you really want to open your floodgates to an American invasion considering how poorly they've dealt with the pandemic? I'm Canadian and the majority of us here are totally opposed to opening our border for anything other than essential travel. Even then it's been abused by quite a number of American's crossing the border and then taking a Canadian holiday.

IMHO it's not worth it if you're covid-19 free because the American's haven't even flattened the curve yet, let alone got things under control. Is it really worth taking the chance? Maybe if you walled off a section of your country? But even then at this point I'd be really leery of letting them in.

In late June through July, Canada's new case count was 200-500 per day. Today, it's averaging about 3,000/day, by far their highest rate yet. How's Canada doing with flattening that curve?

Canada's case mortality rate is 5.1%, some 20% higher than the US. Comparing total deaths between the two nations is difficult, as the US counts suspected and presumed cases, where Canada only counts actual confirmed deaths. Also, given the important of population density as a metric in controlling epidemics, and Canada having one the lowest population densities of all major nations in the world (1/8 that of the US), the figures aren't that different.

If you are a NZ citizen we are told it is your right to return to your birth place as NZ can offer you support if you have lost your job overseas from the Covid pandemic. Anyone returning has to go into a managed Isolation facility for 14 days and then are tested at day 3 and day 12, if shown to have Covid they are then moved into a Quarantine facility until they are well again.

Since valve doesn't do anything I do see why moving their HQ would make a difference. If they got twice as much done, that would still equal zero games (unless they find an excuse to push their own vr kits)
