Video file converter

Can anyone recomend a video file converter. I want to convert files to format that can be put on an IPOD classic. I tried some random searches and downloaded about 5 different software, but they all wanted payment before you access all features. I dont have a problem with paying but, wont pay for software that has "tricked" you into downloading the "free" software and then hits you up for payment.

Try Format Factory. And it's free. (It says MP4 should work on IPOD.. let us know)

For conversion to iPod compatible formats you can't beat Handbrake. Its really simple for getting to the format an iPod/iPad needs.

I tried Handbrake, worked out which format and it worked good.

Does anyone know the latest version of DVD Shrink?

I will give format factory a go when I have a bit more time to play around with it.

I second Handbrake - and as you said it worked great. I wouldn't even bother with the rest unless you need other formats.

I have 2 problems with that:

1. I don't think it does anything better or easier than Handbrake.
2. Its a cnet download, cnet has begun bundling crap like browser toolbars in their downloads.
