Viewsonic unveils 27" IPS and 22" Android ICS LCDs, HD projector

Celebrating its 25th anniversary at an event in London, Viewsonic has unveiled several new display products, including a 22-inch Smart Display running Android, a 27-inch display aimed at graphics professionals as well as a 1080p hybrid laser and LED home cinema projector.

The all-in-one styled Android VSD220 originally debuted at Computex in June and uses a 21.5-inch 1080p touchscreen display coupled with Android ICS. It packs a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 1.0GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Other features include Ethernet and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, a card reader, two USB 2.0 ports, a single Micro-USB, and a Micro-HDMI input. Units will be available in mid to late October for around $359 to $399.

Viewsonic also announced the VP2770-LED, a 27-inch display with an anti-glare coated 10-bit WQHD IPS LED panel capable of delivering 1.07 billion colors at 2560x1440 pixels with a viewing angle of 178-degrees. Power consumption peaks at 40W and it has a typical contrast ratio of 1,000:1 as well as a grey-to-grey response time of 12ms. Inputs include dual-link DVI-D, DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA as well as five USB ports (two USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 and one uplink). It will be available in the US and Europe at the beginning of October priced around $850.

Also unveiled was the firm's latest projector, the PRO9000, which features a full-HD "lampless" DLP projector using a laser and LED illumination system with a 20,000-hour lifespan. It uses a Texas Instruments DLP chip and is equipped with dual HDMI inputs, VGA, S-Video and Composite video. The projector operates at 28dB in normal mode or 22dB in eco mode and its image can be finely tuned between 38-inches and 150-inches in both 16:9 and 4:3. It will be available next month for $4,999.
