VLC released Monday version 2.2.0 of its iOS app. The update brings along a native iOS 7 interface, one-touch playback controls, playback support for HEVC (H.265) and VP9 formats, and many more features.

The one-touch playback controls is a welcome addition. You can now tap with two fingers to pause a video, and swipe to control brightness, playback position and volume. A vertical swipe on the left half of the screen adjusts brightness while the same gesture on the right half adjusts the volume.

Another important feature is Google Drive and Dropbox integration. Users can both download and stream from Dropbox, while support for Google Drive is limited to downloads. The update also adds support for HTTP Live streaming.

Moreover, now you can sort TV shows by season number or episode number. There is an option to rename media files directly from library view, enhanced UPnP integration and downloading support, a rewritten Wi-Fi upload feature, improved privacy when using Passcode Lock, and a startup tutorial to guide you through what's new in this version.

As you can see, it's an important update, not just a cosmetic one. So what are you waiting for? Grab it now.

Couldn't any cloud storage company be integrated with the updated provided the correct API's? Is there a reason it is limited to only Dropbox and Google Drive?
