Warcraft III: Reforged, the remaster of 2003’s Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and expansion pack The Frozen Throne, has been delayed.

Blizzard announced Warcraft III: Reforged at BlizzCon 2018 with the promise that it’d be available sometime in 2019. Unfortunately, we learned this week that the proposed launch window was a bit too optimistic. As the end of the year approached, Blizzard realized that a little extra development time was needed to put the finishing touches on the project.

As such, the game is now set to arrive on January 28, 2020, at 3 p.m. Pacific.

The remaster was originally going to change up the story a bit to better align it with the events of World of Warcraft but that is no longer the case. Robert Bridenbecker, executive producer and vice president of Blizzard Entertainment, told Polygon at BlizzCon 2019 that fans liked the original story and on second thought, they decided not to tinker with it too much.

Warcraft III: Reforged is available to pre-order priced at $29.99 for the standard edition and $39.99 for the Spoils of War edition. The latter includes a number of extras and in-game bonuses for other Blizzard titles. Regardless of which version you snag, you’ll get access to the game’s ongoing beta.

Original still runs just fine on my PC... I don't really see a need to get the remastered version.... but I will probably get it anyways, cause I'm a sucker...

Wouldn’t be Blizzard without a delay. But historically delays mean they’re waiting to make the game just right for launch. A delay I’m OK with, given their quality of games.

I hope they actually make the graphics look nicer instead of what they did with Starcraft HD (I know the masses are against me on this).

I'm with you, if that's what they want to charge for it they better use new engine, AoE II Definitive Edition its a gold standard on how to make a remaster in my opinion :)

Yeah AoE 2 was a good example they should have followed. So far I've been very disappointed they didn't want to make a new game, it plays EXACTLY like the old one and that is a big mistake. We could use Starcraft 2 engine responsiveness and netcode and more... it really is just a 2003 game with prettier paint. They should have brought War3 into the Starcraft 2 engine and redid the animations to allow more responsive control. Also Starcraft 2's netcode is vastly superior.

Diablo 2 is what needs a remaster, not War3, War3's patched resolution support makes it very playable as is. adding in social media makes me want to puke, will I buy it? Yes, because it's Warcraft 3.

Supposedly that will be Diablo 4 since they are going back to the old skill tree system. I think some classics need to stay "classic".

"The skill system, though, is new - new from Diablo 3, anyway. Like earlier Diablo games, you spend points on skills to improve them, and they can even gain new effects at higher levels. Diablo 3's skill rune system is gone."

Either way WC3 remake would be amazing if they bring back the modding/map support it had back in it's prime.

I'm playing Diablo II as we speak and apart from higher resolution support I wouldn't change anything else :)

Bigger stash size, or even unlimitted stash upon gold purchases. So you don't have to mule would be acceptable ^^. And if they demolished hacks tid be nice.
