Weekend Open Forum: Mayweather vs McGregor

Lets have a DNA test done to be sure.
Did you know they can determine if you have certain types of colo-rectal cancer by analyzing your poop?

Butt wait, there's more! Ancestry.com could possibly anal-ize the DNA in that self same sample, and determine the entire family tree of whatever it was you had for dinner last night!

But I digress. I predict McMayweather will be victorious. What's this about again?

The fight of the century? I strongly disagree.

I am with Oscar de la Hoya that this fight disrespects the boxing sport.

...although I will fight either one of them in boxing or mma for $25M+ ;)

There's a lot of hype surrounding the match and I expect it to be a let down although I hope not. I'd like McGregor to rearrange Mayweather's features. Whether he's capable of it, maybe, we'll see.

Why is this on techspot?
I'm looking forward to your forthcoming website. I'm sure it will be a nonstop, relentless, technical assault. The more exploding smart phones you review, the more nerd-cred you will garner Why you could even sponsor malware coding contests, and begin your own religion with Elon Musk as its messiah. Site motto, "no fun for anyone, ever".

To paraphrase the old movie title, "The NeverEnding Boor-ey"....

Mayweather will control this fight and end it whenever he wants. He's a brilliant boxer who has fought men just as big as McGregor. McGregor is a neophyte who couldn't finish off a completely faded Pauli Malignaggi in training camp.

Don't buy the PPV on this one. It's a waste. But there are other ways to see the fight ;)

Why is this on techspot?

Because we aren't just nerds sitting at keyboards.
This is a HUGE fight.

But I AM just a nerd sitting at a keyboard with no life outside cyberspace. And seeing articles posted like this on a website that is tech related fills me with such anger and rage I don't know what to do. My blood has been boiling for the past 15 minutes. I'm thinking of calling an attorney to see what options I have. Emotional distress lawsuit maybe?

The big draw of this fight for me is that there is honestly just no way to know who can win for sure. I was leaning towards McGregor yesterday before I watched the segment with Paulie Malinaggi explaining how different boxing is from MMA.

Either fighter could win in my opinion. Unless MayWeather can dodge *every single attack* from McGregor, which Oscar De LaHoya seems to think will happen.

I'm an attorney. Send me a flat payment of $1,000,000 and we'll make Techspot pay :p

As for the fight: I'm a huge fan of both boxing and UFC. I've personally sparred with amateurs and some pretty decent fighters with decent amateur careers (who for all I know have turned low-level pro).

When you are in the ring with someone better than you, you simply cannot land a punch. They don't even need to throw a bunch. Simply using positioning, footwork, and head movement will make them look like a fool. The more reckless you get the easier it is for them to counter you. For a trained fighter, like Mayweather, it's almost impossible to be caught 100% clean. That's how you get KO'd. But for a UFC fighter, it's very easy to be caught clean because they are not taught proper boxing defense. It just wouldn't make sense considering they have so much else to defend against.

Connor will not catch Floyd. Floyd could literally stand in the middle of the ring or on the ropes and just evade almost everything Connor throws at him. Floyd isn't a high output fighter. He lets you miss and then he counters. Very few fighters (a handful) have even been able to make their fights with him close. He's easily one of the top 5 boxers in his generation and arguably the best. He wins this easy.

I will watch boxing if it's on but haven't really followed it in a dozen years. Saw a good bout last night the Russian won

Don't wanna sound like an *** but this fight is made purely for them to make money. If Conor loses it's no biggie since he's an MMA fighter anyway and Floyd is 40. You can definetly make better matchups than this. It can definetly turn into a fun match to watch but it is in no way fight of the century. That being said I will def watch the match cause as I said it could be fun to see.

That fight was not boring at all. If you considered him winning "shocking" you are most likely someone that doesn't follow boxing at all. This was the expected out come of this fighting. A boxing rookie was not going to beat a legend.

McGregor was competitive the first couple rounds as expected then mayweather's experience took over the rest of fight. I thought the stoppage was abit early but it made no difference in the grand scheme of things.

50-0 Money!

It's just a shame that the Ref stepped in at the last, McGregor was so light on his feet that he would have fallen with the next punch for the KO, but a win's a win and when you have a 50-0 record plus a gate of $200-300 million I guess there isn't much to complain about.

The "" denoted sarcasm.... yes, the result was exactly what everyone expected... and the fight was a snooze fest.... pretty much every Mayweather fight is... Rocky vs Drago is way better - as was Rocky vs Clubber or Rocky vs Apollo :)

Your life must really suck if this article bugs you that much. Maybe you should start your own tech website....

There were a lot of technical difficulties such as showtime's site being down. It wanted my credit card and then wouldn't take it. Hope it wasn't just a credit card number stealer, but I used a gift card. By the time it got started it was very late and past my bedtime. Supposedly I didn't pay, but would have been disappointed if I had. As for delusions of grandeur, my new red 2017 subaru has a boxer motor and sexy people ride for free in it. Lot of hype. Should join lyft. Lost a set of keys and I think people borrow it since the heater is often hot. Changing locks costs $200 so I use something like the club which locks the steering wheel. Typical of my life.

Open forum can be tech related, or not. We make the rules :)
I don't complain. I just turn on my adblock for a while for Techspot when this kind of stuff pops up :)

Sounds classy and juvenile.

no one is forcing you to read it.
Except its a sports post on a tech site. Just like tech news shouldn't be on sports sites.

I wish I were a multi billionaire, I would pay to fill every Superbowl commercial spot with a boring tech related add.

How is this tech? Don't know who either of this deuces are and don't really care, just want my tech news. Any suggestions for a site that is purely tech? Kotaku seemed to go full sports also, do you have the same owner? How about making a new sub site; sportspot?

I know that you need to make more money, it's just shame that your doing so badly you can't find enough advertisers from tech or games industry. Tech geeks and sports jocks go hand in hand like muslims and pork so it's strange how you got them to advertise in the first place.

OK Kidz, meet the newest self elected site operator, @alabama man.
OK Mr. Man, now that you've thoroughly explained you wants, wishes, and needs to us, please allow me to put forth a couple of observations:

"Snowflake millennials" go off all half cocked, pissy, and pouty, if they don't get everything they want, all the time. They have a delusion of absolute entitlement.

Techspot news articles are like trolley cars, if you miss one, there will be another one along in a few minutes.
In related news, you don't have to jump on the first one you see.

And lastly, when a person says, "want, want, want, want, want, want, want", long enough and fast enough, it begins to sound like a pig's grunt. Try it, you'll see! (Oh wait, I see you you already have. Never mind).
